CARE Stirling

CARE was initially set up to challenge Stirling Council's decision to close  Wellgreen and Beech Gardens care homes.

Following a successful Campaign which included widespread media coverage and public meetings the group achieved this objective in a matter of weeks.

CARE is now a voluntary organisation which has evolved into a support group with an advocacy role.

CARE's aims include:

Raising public awareness of care provision for the elderly in Stirling Council area.  Scutinising  and monitoring care provision for the elderly in the Stirling Council area.

Following on from this successful campaign and Stirling Council's decision to reverse the care home closures, a cross party scrutiny panel was set up to

  • prepare options for a long term strategy for the care of older people in the Stirling Council area

  • consider and make recommendations on how best to manage the transition to any new model of care provision.
